A Thousand Great Ideas

The quiet struggle of bringing out what lies deep in my heart.

Just this week, I read a quote from Anne Frank’s diary, (now that is a deep mind with 1000’s of thoughts with nowhere to go).

In her diary, Anne wrote, “I want to write, but more than that, I want to bring out all kinds of things that lie buried deep in my heart.”

THAT IS IT, THAT IS IT! She understands me. Yes, I ordered her book which should be here today I might just sit on the deck and read it all day. After all won’t all the silly needless tasks I want to conquer all be here tomorrow? Yes, they most certainly will!

Should I check my Amazon app to see where my book is?

DISTRACTIONS……MY BIGGEST CHALLENGE AND ENEMY IN LIFE! The object doesn’t even need to be shiny to catch my attention and drag me off to something new.

Today I was finishing a project in my kitchen, making candles, then I decided to try to video the process for social media so I would have footage to make myself relevant! How funny is that?

Anyway, they are half done on the kitchen island and here I am sitting upstairs writing.

But I digress as I was making candles I thought “wonder what the word finish even means?” Really? I have to look the world up because I am not even sure what it means, sadly that is how far removed, I mentally am from “FINISH”.

Isn’t that ok though? Does it really matter that I can work on 22 things at once. Some get finished some never do….is that ok? Do I need to seek counseling over this or just accept that is how I am and it is actually endearing?

When I think about it is ok, it makes me good at so many other things. Like my “job” I am a realtor there are always 30 things going on in my mind and I can juggle them very well and keep transaction on task! I think I got that strength from being a mom of 4 amazing kids!

Well wait, maybe I got that because that is just how God made me, after all He tells me very specifically in His word, “I am fearfully and wonderfully made”, look for your self….Psalm 139:14, see what I did there?

YOU are also fearfully and wonderfully made! We all are.

Which brings me to my oldest son, for point of reference we will just call him, “Nick”, I find myself often thanking the Lord for exactly how he made “Nick” yes, I am his mom so I think he is pretty wonderful (all my babies are actually) but “Nick” is his own guy! I often tell him he might not like to hear this, but I think he is made a lot like me! Maybe that is why I like him so much!

He is a learning Junkie he is always reading, learning and growing. I feel like you can plug him into a room or crowd anywhere and he can really give value to the conversation. At this point in his life, he is not married and seems to really enjoy life! He is always doing something new, fun or exciting or sometimes just doing nothing at all. He is amazing about calling his mom for no reason at all. He is great about keeping pictures of his family in his home, and he will reach out to anyone if you ask him too and make a connection! His younger brothers and sister all think so much of him and are the first to say, “Nick is just
Nick”.

Someday he may find the perfect girl that God has made just for him, although God may just use him to make this world a better place with Nick’s responsible lack of responsibility and availability to bless others so greatly!

Who knows but God and I just keep praying his heart is always full of contentment and love of Jesus all the rest is just a bonus!

Anyway, I see a lot of myself in Nick. With one exception, He is always direct and concise yet wise in his thoughts and advice, he does things and finishes strong. I so often call him for clarity. He gives me the direct answer I need but not always what I want to hear.

Anyway, back to my mind, maybe I went on the rabbit trail of Nick because he is so comfortable in his own skin and I need more of that.

“Hi, my name is Keli Williams, and I am NOT a finisher, but man can I juggle 100 things with dazzling brilliance, I will get some things done and completed and some will wait, but guess what? I am fearfully and wonderfully made”

I am going to go work on candles again….. I will let you know if I finish them!

The story behind the Velvet Chair:

I invite you to join me on this journey of vulnerability, faith, and growth, and to share your own stories as we learn and grow together.

This is where I write about the quite inner life we all lead, the resistance we face, the courage to grow and the God who stays with us through it all. If this is your first visit, make yourself at home.

Blessings,
Keli
